Characteristics of laser cutting

Laser cutting is to use the laser energy to reach a very high energy density at the focus after being focused by the focusing lens, and the processed material will produce photothermal effect after absorbing the laser. Laser cutting does not need traditional cutting tools. Laser is an "invisible knife", which has the characteristics of fast processing speed and small material deformation.

Laser cutting has the following characteristics:

1. The laser power density is high, and the temperature of the material rises rapidly after absorbing the laser and melts or vaporizes. Even the materials with high melting point, high hardness and brittleness can be processed by laser;

2. There is no wear problem between the laser processing head and the workpiece;

3. The workpiece is not subject to cutting force;

4. The spot diameter of the laser beam can be as small as microns, and the action time can be as short as nanoseconds and picoseconds. At the same time, the continuous output power of the high-power laser can reach the order of kW to 10kW. Therefore, the laser is suitable for both precision micro processing and large-scale plate processing;

5. The laser beam is easy to control. Combined with precision machinery, precision measurement technology and electronic computer, it can realize high automation and high machining accuracy.

Laser cutting processing can be divided into cutting, welding, marking, punching, dicing, roughening, heat treatment, etc.
